So, when it comes to planning a girls’ trip, there’s no official rules. However, when it comes to planning a girls’ trip to Nashville, there are a few expectations and rules that need to be understood if you want to have the perfect girls' trip in Music City.
Now, “Let’s go girls...” (cue Shania Twain’s Man! I Feel Like a Woman)
Rule 1. You MUST Love Country Music
It’s pretty fair to say that yes, Nashville hosts all genres of music, and you can hear the different genres all throughout the city. But let’s be realistic here; Nashville isn’t called the “Country Music Capital of the World” for nothing!
From the moment you land in Nashville’s BNA airport, you’re immediately welcomed by posters of country music artists, there are sculptures and paintings of guitars everywhere, and almost all the souvenirs in gift shops are filled with guitar, boot, and cowboy hat keychains and shot glasses!
Once you set foot downtown on Broadway, you’re immersed in all the live music bars in Nashville. In fact, The Stage is one of the most famous bars in Nashville due to its celebrity status, legendary memorabilia, and its showcasing of Nashville’s brightest and rawest musical talents. Of course, there are other amazing bars and restaurants there that you’ll want to visit but The Stage is hands down one of the best bars in downtown Nashville that you don’t want to leave without visiting.
The bottom line is that if you’re planning a girl's trip to Nashville, anyone who has anything negative to say about country music or if they say it’s “okay,” leave them at home! Nashville is the birthplace of country music, and it will remain that way.
Rule 2. Rideshare Everywhere
With Nashville being the destination that it is, driving is not recommended, and ridesharing is highly encouraged. This is more from a carefree perspective. When you and your girls arrive in Nashville, the last thing you’re going to want to have to worry about is getting gas, using Google Maps to navigate the interstates, and worry about parking.
First, when we say Nashville is the Country Music Capital of the World, it truly is, and that’s why it’s “musically congested,” so to speak. People come in flocks to visit this majestic city, so when it comes to going to events and attractions, you’re likely going to spend quite a bit of time getting stuck in traffic, looking for parking, and then getting back in traffic when you leave the event.
Not to mention, if you have a few drinks, which you likely will, driving is definitely out of the question. So, to save you and your girls from the frustrations of driving, make it known upfront for everyone that there will be a rideshare fee included in the amount of money everyone needs to have to take part in the various events during the trip.
Rule 3. Cowboy Hats and Boots, Denim, and Bling are Outfit Requirements
Come on guys... it’s Nashville. This is the rule. That’s it.
Rule 4. You Must Learn How to Line Dance
Learning how to line dance is one of those known, yet unspoken rules to follow when you come to Nashville. For many, when you see people out on the dance floor doing the synchronized dances with all the fun kicks and “yee-haws,” it can make you feel a little intimidated to get out there and try but Nashville is the home of southern hospitality, remember.
When visiting any of the honky-tonks, you’re going to see people line dancing. If you don’t want to jump right in, just kind of watch the others and then when you feel you have a little bit of it learned jump in! There are also several locations in Nashville that offer line dance classes that would make a fun activity for all the girls to do together! Remember to have fun!
Rule 5. Take a Little Time to Explore Outside of Broadway
In order to get the full experience of Nashville, it truly will require more than one trip, but while you’re on your girls' trip, it’s important to take some time to see the other parts of Nashville that makes it so unique and special.
Outside of Broadway, did you know that Nashville houses the world’s only full-scale replica of the Parthenon in Centennial Park? Or did you know that Nashville’s Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum is the only one in the world that features ONLY music artists (no actors or actresses)? Or did you know that the iconic candy bars Goo Goo Clusters got its acronym from after the Grand Ole Opry? G for (grand), O for (ole), and O for (opry).
There’s so much to see and do in Nashville. And while a lot of the fun happens right on Broadway, a lot of fun and history extends well beyond the bright lights of downtown too. So, as you begin to plan for this memorable trip, be sure to put in a little fun outside the downtown area.
